Award Winning Partnerships and Projects
In 2009, Main Street Waterbury was proud to receive special recognition for two major projects – our Façade Improvement Program and our Downtown Parking Project. Both successes have resulted from capable partnerships that influenced the shape and quality of those efforts. The CT Main Street Center acknowledged the importance of those alliances when announcing their awards. The Center states, “The CT Main Street Awards annually celebrate and communicate the most successful and innovative efforts in main street revitalization in Connecticut.” They particularly look for “…individuals and partnerships in community efforts to bring traditional downtown and neighborhood commercial districts back to life socially and economically.” The CT Main Street Center’s awards are described as follows:
MAIN STREET PARTNERSHIP - recognizes a Main Street organization that has established a strong partnership with public and/or private-sector entity (or entities) on cooperative efforts to positively impact the quality of life, the economic value and the image of its main street district.
- 2009 Award recipient: Main Street Waterbury & Waterbury Development Corporation -- Downtown Waterbury Facade Improvement Program.
TRANSPORTATION- recognizes projects that have used innovating solutions in transportation choices, access or parking to physically enhance the district and increase user friendliness and economic vitality.

BUSINESS OWNER OF THE YEAR- recognizes outstanding commitment, on the part of a downtown business owner, setting high standards for their own business as well as their overall impact on the district and involvement with local main street revitalization initiatives.

Main Street Waterbury CEO Carl Rosa noted, “It is gratifying to get the statewide recognition and it further underscores the importance of our downtown revitalization program along with our partnering organizations working together to achieve our goals.”
